Bottle cap project (Pen basket)

First we began by collecting bottle caps of different sizes and colors, then we used a tack to poke holes in the middle of the cap. We then used needle and thread to sew the caps together using a triangular grid pattern. Once we had enough to connect the caps together to form a circle, we then attached them to a cardboard base using the same sewing method. This gave us or basket shape! Our product can be placed on desks, table tops, counters, etc. it can hold pens, markers, crayons, and any writing utensil. It is an useful and unique object to have.

System 2X4

*System: an assemblage or combination of things or parts forming a complex or unitary whole.

*2x4:is a term used in North America for lumber that is finished/planed and cut to standardized width and depth specified in inches.

The first project for studio was to create a self-sustained system. We had to make no less than six cuts and use all the 18 inches of the 2x4.

At first I was completely lost, didn’t know what to do. I had a certain idea of what could be done with the machines at the wood shop, but I was blown away by all the machines available and to see you could get perfect cuts that didn’t require sanding.
I tried to gather inspiration from the spiders; they are one of my favorite sources of inspiration. What I liked about my system, is it could move the pieces and make a completely different system
